Can This Love Be Translated? actress Go Youn Jung’s upcoming K-drama

Kim Ji Won is starring in We Are All Trying Here, a new JTBC drama. The Hallyu actress is paired opposite Koo Kyo Hwan of D.P. fame, marking not just their first on-screen collaboration in a K-drama but also the latter’s first leading role in a TV show. The supporting cast includes Oh Jung Se of It’s Okay to Not Be Okay fame, Kang Mal Geum of Squid Game fame and Park Hae Joon of When Life Gives You Tangerines fame.

Koo Kyo Hwan plays Hwang Dongman, an aspiring film director and the only member of The Eight, a well-known filmmaking clique, who has yet to make his debut. Feeling like an uninvited guest, Dongman lingers on the sidelines, masking his ever-present anxiety with nonstop rambling. However, he’s barely holding on. In comes Byun Eunah (Go Youn Jung), who helps transform Dongman’s sense of worthlessness into the most radiant kind of value.
Eunah, a producer at Choi Film Productions, is nicknamed ‘The Ax’ for her razor-sharp script reviews. While she strives hard to hold herself together, striking the right balance of calm in any situation, in reality, Eunah battles trauma; suffering nosebleeds whenever she’s emotionally overloaded. After meeting Dongman, Eunah is able to heal her own wounds thanks to him, who may seem to be at the bottom rank in society, but is stronger inside than anyone.
“An acting showdown from Koo Kyo Hwan, Go Youn Jung, Oh Jung Se, Kang Mal Geum and Park Hae Joon combined with writer Park Hae Young’s insightful lines and director Cha Young Hoon’s warm point-of-view, will come together to offer a magical time in which even the shabbiest moments of life feel meaningful,” the production team commented, via Soompi.

Notably, We Are All Trying Here marks the return of writer Park Hae Young, whose esteemed filmography includes Lee Sun Kyun and IU’s My Mister and Kim Ji Won and Son Suk Ku’s My Liberation Notes. Cha Young Hoon of Welcome to Samdalri fame is helming the project. We Are All Trying Here is releasing in the second quarter of 2026 on Netflix.
